Badminton Nuremberg – FAQ

Although badminton and playing with a shutllecock have many similarities, such as the use of rackets and a shuttlecock, they differ mainly in terms of speed, intensity, technique, rules and level of competition.

Generally, badminton is considered a faster and more intense sport. The badminton ball, also known as a shuttlecock, can reach speeds of over 300 km/h, resulting in fast and exciting rallies.

At our Sportcentrum Nürnberg, children from the age of 6 can get to know badminton under professional guidance as part of our “Multisports” children’s sports program. Children can also get a taste of the game of badminton and try it out at our vacation camps.

Since the health of our athletes is particularly important to us, we use sports parquet flooring at the Sportcentrum Nürnberg because this type of flooring is particularly elastic and therefore healthier for badminton players. Joints and muscles are subjected to much less stress than on wooden floors, for example.

The duration of a badminton match can vary depending on the game mode and level. In general, a singles match in which only two players:inside compete against each other is played to two winning sets. Each set usually goes to 21 points. If the score is tied 20-20, the set continues until a two-point difference is reached. The duration of a singles match can vary from 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the skill level and pace of play of the players. Higher level singles matches – or doubles matches – can last longer. It is also important to note that professional badminton matches at the international level are usually played over three winning sets.

Our trainer will be happy to help you choose the right equipment. Rackets and balls can be rented or purchased at the Sportcentrum Nürnberg.

Badminton racket: Choose a racket that suits your playing style and level. Pay attention to the weight, balance and grip of the racket to have a comfortable feel.

Shuttlecocks: It is recommended to have several shuttlecocks with different speeds and qualities at hand. High quality shuttlecocks provide better flight stability and durability.

Shoes: Wear sneakers with good cushioning and non-slip soles to improve grip on the field and prevent injuries. The sole should not stain.

Sportswear: Choose comfortable sportswear that allows you freedom of movement. Wear breathable materials to effectively wick away sweat and prevent overheating.

Badminton Nuremberg: Fun and action on our courts!

Content

Controlled environment: Badminton on our indoor courts provides you with a controlled environment, meaning that unlike playing outdoors, factors such as wind or other weather conditions are minimized. This keeps the flight of the shuttlecock more stable and predictable, which allows for a more precise game.

Optimal lighting: Our badminton courts are very well lit to give you optimal playing conditions. Good lighting is important to see the shuttlecock clearly and to enable quick reactions. This also contributes to safety and comfortable game play.

Special hall floor: The floors on our badminton courts are specially designed for the sport. They provide good suspension and cushioning to reduce stress on the joints and prevent injuries. At the same time, the floor allows good traction to support fast changes of direction and explosive movements.

Familiar indoor atmosphere: The sound of the shuttlecock hitting the rackets and bouncing against the walls creates an energetic and captivating atmosphere. The spatial limitations of the hall can intensify the feeling of closeness and intensity between the players. You can experience badminton in Nuremberg in a particularly familiar atmosphere at the Sportcentrum Nuremberg.
